Watch: New U.K. Trailer For ‘The Imitation Game’ Starring Benedict Cumberbatch & Keira Knightley

Imitation GameDuring WWII, brilliant British mathematician Alan Turing was a key figure in cracking Nazi Germany’s Enigma code —the daily encrypted communiqués about all wartime activities. But Turing faced skeptical commanders and had to hide his then-illegal homosexuality from all his cryptologist colleagues. His story is told in the dramatic thriller “The Imitation Game.”

And if the Weinstein Company weren’t that much of a force at last year’s Academy Awards (lots of nominations but not a lot of winners, and few that controlled the narrative), the studio has course corrected with the film. Directed by Morten Tyldum ("Headhunters"), the drama was well received during the fall film festival circuit, earning strong reviews and winning the coveted Toronto International Film Fest audience award.

Our review out of Telluride was slightly cooler on the film, but allowed that it was a crowd-pleasing thriller. Here’s the official synopsis:

In THE IMITATION GAME, Benedict Cumberbatch stars as Alan Turing, the genius British mathematician, logician, cryptologist and computer scientist who led the charge to crack the German Enigma Code that helped the Allies win WWII. Turing went on to assist with the development of computers at the University of Manchester after the war, but was prosecuted by the UK government in 1952 for homosexual acts which the country deemed illegal.

"The Imitation Game" stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Keira Knightley, Matthew Goode, Mark Strong, Charles Dance (“Game Of Thrones”), Allen Leech (“Downton Abbey”), Matthew Beard (“The Riot Club”) and Rory Kinnear (“Skyfall”), and opens November 14 in the U.K. and November 21 in the U.S. Check out the new poster, some new photos and watch the new trailer below.
