With all the awards season buzz around "The Revenant" centering on Leonardo DiCaprio and Alejandro G. Inarritu, you might have forgotten that Tom Hardy is up for an Oscar on Sunday night for Best Supporting Actor. But the man himself isn’t really into glad-handing, and just wants to get on with the work. Up next looks like another great character from Hardy, and it’s one we’ll get to spend some time with.
Reteaming with his "Locke" writer/director Steven Knight, they’ve delivered the eight-episode series "Taboo." Set in 1814, the story follows James Keziah Delaney (Hardy), a rogue adventurer who returns from Africa with 14 ill-gotten diamonds to seek vengeance after the death of his father. Refusing to sell the family business to the East India Company, he sets out to build his own trade and shipping empire and finds himself playing a dangerous game with two warring nations, Britain and America.
Co-starring Jonathan Pryce, Michael Kelly, Oona Chaplin, and more, "Taboo" will hit FX later this year, and damn, we can’t wait. Watch below.
