Watch: Outstanding New Trailer For 'Prisoners' Starring Hugh Jackman & Jake Gyllenhaal

Prisoners, hugh jackmanIt can be easy to forget what a drama looks like in the midst of the various 3D, speaking jacking, CGI, eyeball fuckfests at the multiplex of summer. But then something like this comes along and reminds you there is relief coming, in just a few short months.

A brand new trailer for “Prisoners” has arrived, boasting a mix of older footage and lots of new material as well, in what looks like yet another solid, early fall, Warner Bros. drama, joining “The Town” and “Argo” in recent years.  Starring an ace cast including Jake Gyllenhaal, Hugh Jackman, Paul Dano, Melissa Leo and Viola Davis, the Black List script by Aaron Guzikowski tells the tale of Keller, a small-town carpenter whose young daughter and best friend are kidnapped. As the investigation drags on and no suspect is arrested, Keller begins to take the law in his own hands.

But this isn’t just some grimy revenge flick. There is a real palpable sense of emotion running through (Howard’s scenes in the latter part of the trailer are great), and it looks like “Incendies” director Denis Villeneuve has put together something that’s more than just a potboiler. We’ll see the results on September 20th, or perhaps earlier at TIFF? Watch below.
