Watch: Paul Thomas Anderson Narrates A Scene From 'Inherent Vice' Plus New Pics

Inherent ViceTomorrow night, folks lucky enough to live in New York or Los Angeles will get to experience Paul Thomas Anderson‘s "Inherent Vice." Or, if you managed to be one of the folks in Austin, Boston, Chicago, Columbus, Dallas, Denver, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Miami, Oakland, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Seattle, Toronto, and Vancouver to scoop up a ticket for the advance Saturday screenings you’ll be getting a taste sooner than the rest of us as well. But for the majority who have yet to get blissed out with the Thomas Pynchon adaptation, this is a pretty good holdover.

The latest "Anatomy Of A Scene" from The New York Times finds Anderson shedding some insight into a scene from the film. It’s not the most mind-blowing peek into the production, but the sequence does capture the madcap humor in the film, coupled with what the director himself calls a straight-ahead approach. Well, about as straight-ahead as this hazy, pot-laden film can be. But overall, it really gives you an appreciation of the amount of detail that went into creating this very specific world, and these days, we’d expect nothing less from Anderson.

"Inherent Vice" goes wide on January 9th.
