Watch: 'Prometheus' And 'Alien' Re-Cut Together Into 2 1/2 Hour Black-And-White Movie

Prometheus AlienRidley Scott’s “The Martian” was recently pushed up a couple of weeks for an October release date and will mark the third time Scott has ventured into space. His previous two interstellar sojourns, “Alien” and “Prometheus,” couldn’t be further apart, critically. One’s a stone-cold classic and the other’s legendary status is definitely less than a sure thing. However, Job Willins has attempted to join Scott’s two xenomorph-featuring films together to make an entirely new film: “Derelict.”

Running nearly two-and-a-half hours, Willins has cut the two films together for a black-and-white version where “Prometheus” has 30 minutes swapped for an hour of “Alien” footage. It’s an interesting look at an alternate timeline where the two films and storylines could have been played as echoes or reflections of each other in the same film.

It’s the weekend, so carve out some time and watch “Derelict” below. Maybe after – or even before – you can do a double feature of “Alien” and “Prometheus” to see how Willins’ cut fares against the originals. [AV Club]
