The Thing The Hateful Eight Wild BunchWe’re now in February, over a month from when "The Hateful Eight" first hit theaters, and with the film well out of the top ten at the box office, the timing of this video might seem a bit late. However, if you have yet to see Quentin Tarantino‘s movie, this is a pretty good primer to dive into before you check out the western (which is still playing in 505 cinemas). In early January, Tarantino sat down with Premiere magazine in France to talk about the five movies to see before "The Hateful Eight," and it’s a pretty good list. Of course, John Carpenter‘s "The Thing" is on there ("The Hateful Eight" utilizes cues from Ennio Morricone‘s unused score for the film), while Sidney Lumet‘s "The Murder On The Orient Express" is also on there (with Tarantino admitting he hadn’t seen the film until very recently). "The Wild Bunch" is an obvious point of reference, while the Paul Newman starring "Hombre" and "Khartoum" (the last film before "The Hateful Eight" to be shot on Ultra Panavision 70) round it out.
