Watch: Quicksilver & Mystique Show Off Their Powers In 'Future Past' Promos, 'Wolverine 2' May Shoot Back-To-Back With 'Apocalypse'

X-Men: Days of Future Past

X-Men: Days Of Future Past” drops in just a couple of weeks, and right now, the folks at Fox are spending a lot days of future planning for the franchise. “X-Men: Apocalypse” is already on deck for 2016, and “The Wolverine 2” continues to develop, even as Hugh Jackman plays forever coy about whether or not it’s the last time he sports the mutton chops and fangs. But the studio is certainly hoping to make it easier on the actor who has to diet like crazy to get mad ripped to play Logan.

So, how will they do that? By potentially shooting “The Wolverine 2″—already set for 2017—right after “X-Men: Apocalypse.” And yeah, that makes sense. “Well, we announced ‘Apocalypse’ to come out in 2016, so that means we have to shoot next summer. And then we’d have to shoot our new Wolverine movie either before or after that. I think after because it will come out after,” producer Lauren Shuler Donner told Collider.

“And as much as you have an ambition for these things, it is, as you said about Hugh, getting a script that everybody feels is ready and right. Because that is the foundation on which everything is built,” producer Hutch Parker added. “So I think the goal will be ‘Apocalypse’ for 2016, which means at the latest [filming begins] in summer 2015, and then the same thing with Wolverine, either before or after, but based on the script.”

Plans will continue to formulate, but for now, the focus is on ‘Days Of Future Past,’ which is already tracking to open huge on Memorial Day weekend. And two quick promos are highlighting the powers of Quicksilver (who is apparently not as super dorky as he looks) and Mystique. And via Comic Book Movie, there’s also a weird Axe promo with Havok.

“X-Men: Days Of Future Past” arrives on May 23rd.
