Watch: Robert Downey Jr. Needs To Save Robert Duvall In 2 New Trailers For 'The Judge'

The Judge, Robert Downey Jr., Robert DuvallThe phrase "they don’t make ’em like this anymore" can be taken two ways. When a movie works as an effective throwback to a style in which Hollywood used to excel, it can be a welcome pleasure. When it doesn’t work, you get a movie like "The Judge" (read our review), a slickly produced dramedy encompassing all of the necessary elements as such, but defined by a manufactured core that seems calculated to attract awards attention and audience sympathy.

And the two new international trailers for the movie below certainly aren’t subtle. Robert Downey Jr. leads the movie as Hank Palmer, a big city defense attorney who returns to his tiny hometown for the funeral of this mother. But when his father, a judge, is accused of murder, Hank stays to defend him, and he’s forced to confront personal and emotional pain from his past.

As we wrote in our review, this "would’ve been an Oscar contender in the era of ‘Driving Miss Daisy‘… but feels musty and dated now." The David Dobkin directed movie opens on October 10th. Watch below. [via Vlicious]
