Last night, sci-fi fans rejoiced when it was officially announced that Neill Blomkamp would be directing the next entry in the "Alien" franchise. But will they feel the same way after seeing "Chappie"? Early word flying around has drawn comparisons to "Short Circuit," of all things, but the message for now is "In Blomkamp We Trust." Here’s a look at what he’s set to deliver in a couple of weeks.
The first clip from "Chappie," with half of Die Antwoord getting caught up in a robot raid, while the law enforcing androids face some heavy fire. The second provides Hugh Jackman in all of his mullet-ed glory. Meanwhile, a slew of TV spots show off bits and pieces of more footage, while conveying varying tones and textures of the movie. Either "Chappie" can’t be easily categorized, or it’s a bit of a mess. Maybe both? We’ll soon see.
