As we said this morning, when news broke of David Fincher eying a producing gig on the HBO remake of the UK series “Utopia,” we’re patiently awaiting his next feature to get moving, whatever it may be. And the director has been keeping his directorial chops well oiled by jumping into some promo work. Earlier in the year, he dressed up Justin Timberlake for his “Suit & Tie” video, and now he’s re-teamed once again with his “The Social Network” and “The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo” actress Rooney Mara for a quick fashion spot.
“Downtown” is a new fragrance for women from Calvin Klein, and Mara is the face of it, and so it goes that an expensive, lavish commercial will follow. And this one minute black-and-white spot with Mara finds her sporting a variety of looks and moods, and generally conveying the message that any well-dressed woman can wear this smelly water with confidence. It’s pretty crisply put together as you might expect from Fincher, and the song “Runaway” by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs is the icing on top. Watch below.
