Watch: Sam Worthington Steps Out In 'Man On A Ledge' Trailer

Not to be confused with the other man standing on the edge of a building movie “The Ledge” that opened earlier this year starring Charlie Hunnam, Terrence Howard and Liv Tyler, “Man On A Ledge” takes a similar premise but drops the religious angle and goes strictly for B-movie thrills.

Directed by Danish filmmaker Asger Leth (who made the heralded 2006 documentary about Haiti, “Ghosts of Cité Soleil,” and is the son of Jørgen Leth), and starring Sam Worthington, Jamie Bell, Anthony Mackie, Elizabeth Banks, Ed Harris and a frequently underdressed Genesis Rodriguez, the story centers on an ex-cop turned con (Worthington) who threatens to jump to his death from a Manhattan hotel rooftop. The NYPD dispatch a female police psychologist (Banks) to talk him down. However, unbeknownst to the cops on the scene, the suicide attempt is a cover for the biggest diamond heist ever pulled. We know, it sounds pretty late night TV, but honestly, we were pretty hooked into the whole thing after watching this (even if that monarch diamond looks totally plastic), and if Harris is gonna ham it up as the villain, that could be great fun. If this delivers 90 minutes of unassuming popcorn entertainment, we’ll go for it. But we just have to ask: who on earth did the ridiculous hair for Banks and Worthington? It looks like they just walked out of a Motley Crue video.

Anyway, “Man On A Ledge” opens on January 13, 2012. Trailer and poster below.
