Watch: Scarlett Johansson Races Through Paris In New 'Lucy' Clip, Plus New Photos & A Featurette

Lucy

We’ve heard “Lucy,” the new action thriller by Luc Besson, is a cross between “The Tree Of Life” and well… a Luc Besson-helmed action movie. We’re not sure what the hell the Malick part has to do with anything, but we suppose that makes it sound slightly more intriguing. The movie stars Scarlett Johansson as a woman in Taipei who gets in over her head as a drug mule. She’s then accidentally given super enhancing drugs that make her more evolved to the point that she’s using more than just 10% of her brain (an inaccuracy that pop culture still likes to hang onto). She then becomes lightning quick, super human and bad ass to the point that she kicks a lot of butt.

The film seems like a return to Besson’s early days with “La Femme Nikita,” a femme-fatal action film that put the filmmaker on the global map at the beginning o of the 1990s. Whether the movie is a return to form remains to be seen, but at least it’s something to hope for. Meanwhile, Universal has released several new photos from the film and a featurette to whet your appetite for the movie’s release next week.

Soundtrack details from a French release have also been announced and it contains a score by Eric Serra, and music by Damon Albarn (the track “Sister Rust”) and The Crystal Method (“Single Barrel [Sling The Decks]).” Soundtrack details can be found here.

Universal opens Lucy nationwide on July 25.
