Watch: Shane Meadows' TV Series 'This Is England 86' Gets A 'Trash Humpers'-Style Trailer

Not so long ago, the first image debuted for one of our most eagerly awaited TV projects of the year; Shane Meadows’ sequel to his best film, “This Is England.” Entitled “This Is England 86,” and seeing the helmer team with “Scouting Book For Boys” directing/writing duo Tom Harper and Jack Thorne, it picks up with almost all of the characters from the original, a few years on, against the background of the 1986 World Cup in Mexico.

Courtesy of The Guardian and shanemeadows.co.uk, a trailer for the series has appeared, and it’s not what we were expecting at all. Seemingly shot on an 80s style VCR camera, and vaguely reminiscent (although very much a watered down version) of Harmony Korine’s ‘Trash Humpers,” it sees almost all the characters hanging out at a party as Gadget records the goings on. It’s not really indicative of the finished product (for one thing, the show isn’t going to be shot in this manner), but it’s still pretty intoxicating to be back with the characters again. All four parts of “This Is England 86” will air on Channel 4 in the UK in the autumn, and will hopefully make their way across the Atlantic sometime after that.
