So, how do you market an NC-17 rated, three-hour, lesbian relationship drama featuring a much talked about, graphic sex scene? Well, you start by tossing in a quote by Steven Spielberg, the Cannes Jury president who gave the celebrated film the Palme d’Or and declared: “Magnificent…we were under the spell of the film and its wonderful actresses.” Nicely played, Sundance Selects, nicely played.

The first U.S. trailer for “Blue Is The Warmest Color” is here, and while it forgoes any dialogue—because, you know, subtitles—it paints a more impressionistic portrait of the movie and emotion coursing through it. Lea Seydoux and Adèle Exarchopoulos star in the Abdellatif Kechiche-directed film about two young women, and the ups and downs of their romantic, emotionally wrenching union. And the rave reviews—including our own—speak for itself, with this being one of the must-watch movies of the season.

So check out the trailer below. And the song, in case you’re wondering, is “Take Care” by Beach House. “Blue Is The Warmest Color” opens on October 25th.
