Next year, we’ll get Jared Leto‘s take on The Joker when he appears in "Suicide Squad," but the actor has some very big shoes to fill. Jack Nicholson fell right into the tone Tim Burton was going for in "Batman" with his colorful turn, while Heath Ledger found the depraved menace in the villain with this scarred take in Christopher Nolan‘s "The Dark Knight." A bit of the method behind Ledger’s madness has been revealed.
Apparently this knocked around the web a few years ago and is circulating again, but it’s the first I’m seeing it. This segment from the documentary "Too Young To Die" about Ledger, shows the actor’s father thumbing through the pages in the diary his son created as part of his research for the character. You’ll see a very heavy presence of "A Clockwork Orange," and Ledger wrote some extensive notes for the hospital sequence.
It’s a pretty fascinating look at Ledger’s process, and a sad reminder of the talent that has been lost. Watch below. [Collider]
