While audiences have yet to show they’re keen to see a movie about the Beat generation even with a star-laden cast (“On The Road“), you have to at least give the filmmakers behind “Kill Your Darlings” some due credit. Lining up Daniel Radcliffe as Allen Ginsberg, “Boardwalk Empire” star Jack Huston as Jack Kerouac, Ben Foster as William Burroughs, Elizabeth Olsen as Edie Parker, and Dane DeHaan as Lucien Carr—well, you have our attention. And now the first teaser trailer (kind of) is here to give you a taste of how it turned out.
At only 30 seconds long and seemingly cut off randomly (or perhaps it’s a meta reflection of the Beats’ tendency to break established narrative rules or whatever), the promo introduces the true story that found fairly interesting and relatively compelling, but far from an enlightening or deep story into the hearts and minds of these artists who would define a generation.”
“Kill Your Darlings” opens in limited release on October 18th. Watch below. [First Showing]
