If movies have taught us anything, it’s that anyone who thinks they’ve plotted the perfect crime will have karma come swiftly around the corner to remind them things don’t always work out as planned. And the fates certainly conspire against the gang in the upcoming crime thriller "Kidnapping Mr. Heineken." With the added flavor of a based-on-a-true-story tale, you can go on the run with this one today as the first trailer has arrived.
Anthony Hopkins, Sam Worthington, Jim Sturgess, and Ryan Kwanten team up for the latest from "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" filmmaker Daniel Alfredson. The story follows a group or criminals who snatch up the titular beer baron and hold him for ransom, and then….well, let’s just say they’re probably going to need a few stiff drinks when this is all over. Here’s the official synopsis:
In 1983, a group of childhood friends pulled off the crime of the century: kidnapping one of the richest men in the world, the heir of the Heineken beer empire (Anthony Hopkins). The shocking capture–by gunpoint in broad daylight on the streets of Amsterdam–resulted in the largest ransom ever paid for a kidnapped individual. It was truly the perfect crime…until they got away with it.
"Kidnapping Mr. Heineken" opens on VOD/iTunes and in cinemas on March 6th. Watch below.
