So, we've been waiting all this time for…this? Mired in MGM's financial fiasco for a better part of a year, Lionsgate finally rescued "The Cabin The Woods," a horror entry written by Joss Whedon and directed by "Cloverfield" scribe Drew Goddard and is now set to bring it to theaters next year. The one word to sum it up is: WTF.
The film stars a pre-"Thor" Chris Hemsworth and a bunch of other people filling in genre stereotypes (the stoner, the guy with glasses, the hot chicks) in the story about some people who stay in a run down cabin only for some weird shit to start happening. Forcefields, one way mirrors, elevators (randomly), creatures/monsters a 'Truman Show'-esque conceit and a hillbilly out of "Deliverance" all come together for a story that looks as ridiculous as it is incomprehensible. Maybe this stayed on the shelf for a reason.
Anyway, guess we'll see what all the fuss is about when this opens on Friday, April 13, 2012. SCARY!
