Watch: Tom Cruise Goes To The 'Edge Of Tomorrow' In New Trailer For Doug Liman's Sci-Fi Flick

Edge Of Tomorrow, Cruise

“If you love Tom Cruise, you see him giving a genius performance, and if you hate Tom Cruise he dies like 200 times in the movie,” director Doug Liman told European press earlier this month, in what must be the oddest promo quote for a summer movie you’re likely to hear. But it’s also true as Cruise undergoes the worst “Groundhog Day” ever in “Edge Of Tomorrow.”

The film is said to mix both comedy and drama, finding Cruise’s special forces soldier caught in a time loop where he battles the same alien force over and over again. The downside? He keeps dying. The upside? He keeps getting better and better at killing baddies, and hey, he gets to romance Emily Blunt a bit too. Also: Bill Paxton is in this and his presence is always worth something in a movie.

The last time we saw Cruise go sci-fi was in the beautiful but stiff “Oblivion,” but Liman’s film looks a lot looser and possibly more fun. Thoughts? Let us know below—”Edge Of Tomorrow” arrive on June 4th.
