If you’re talking about the best, most exciting on-the-rise genre directors in the world, at the top of your list might be Nicolas Winding Refn. But nipping at his heels very closely is English filmmaker Ben Wheatley known for “Kill List,” “Sightseers” and “A Field in England.” Wheatley’s been working at a quick clip and his latest film is an adaptation of J.G. Ballard‘s 1975 psycho and bloody novel "High-Rise” about a luxury apartment complex where the tenants, isolated from the rest of society, fall into class warfare and clash violently between the floors of their building.
"High-Rise," has quite the cast too, starring Tom Hiddleston, Jeremy Irons, Sienna Miller, Luke Evans, Elisabeth Moss, and many more. In fact, Wheatley works so fast, he already has his next film, “Free Fire,” in the can. But lets not get too ahead of ourselves. “High Rise” is almost upon us and will surely further demonstrate Wheatley’s versatile powers. His career thus far has been extremely eclectic and surely he can convey all the violent, moody and creepy notes of Ballard’s book.
Magnolia will release the film in 2016.
