It’s easy to be consumed by American cinema, to the point that it’s often difficult to peek through the noise and look abroad at the quality offerings from around the world. One movie that has been quietly making a fuss on the festival circuit is "The Mule," and now a great first trailer is here to makes a strong case that this is one to track down.
Starring Angus Sampson (who also co-wrote and co-directed the movie), Hugo Weaving and Leigh Whannell, the crime comedy boasts a deceptively simple concept: a man is detained by police after being suspected of smuggling drugs inside his body. He’s held for a week by the cops as they wait for him to shit out of the evidence, but the man, uh, holds it in, for reasons that go far beyond the room where he’s being detained. And we have to say, this looks wildly entertaining, while also fresh and smart.
XLrator Media has the U.S. rights to the Aussie movie, but no release date has been revealed yet.
