Watch: Trailer For David Lynch's Duran Duran Webcast Looks Like A High School Video Midterm

There’s always something baffling about David Lynch. Even his more straight-laced stuff has certain oddities to them, such as “The Straight Story” (general handling of throwaway lines/moments) or his thoughts on his coffee (“I like cheese as well”/”Eric, here’s not here… he’s in an airplane, but anyway…”), but his newest project with Duran Duran seems to be devoid of his signature touch.

The trailer has arrived via Bleeding Cool, and it honestly looks made by a high schooler playing around with trippy Final Cut effects rather than the man responsible for “Blue Velvet,” “Mulholland Drive,” “The Elephant Man,” and other insanely terrific contributions to cinema. Sporting a negative-film glaze and choppy cinematography, a brush writes the poetic descriptor “Duran Duran Concert” before scraping away to reveal the band performing. Maybe we’re the suckers for thinking Lynch would or could do anything bizarre in a concert webcast brought to you by American Express, but I guess we’ll see for sure on March 23rd when it airs on YouTube. Trailer after the jump.
