During October of 2013, New York City and the global art world were buzzing about infamous graffiti artist Banksy’s monthlong residency in the city, “Better Out Than In.” Today marks the one-year anniversary of the end of that residency and HBO has released a new trailer for the documentary of Banksy’s NYC shenanigans, “Banksy Does New York.”
Billed as “a user-generated film,” the Chris Moukarbel-directed movie looks like it incorporates a significant amount of footage that Banksy fans posted on sites like Instagram or Vine. It’s a short trailer—just over a minute long—and focuses on the excitement that flowed through social media when Banksy’s stint in New York City began.
“Banksy Does New York” airs on HBO on Monday, November 17th, at 9 PM, or can watch it on HBO Go right now. Those of you in New York can catch the documentary earlier as part of the DOC NYC festival next month on Friday, November 14th, with Moukarbel scheduled to be in attendance.
