Kids these days, with their electronic dance music and their glo-sticks and their…Ferris wheels? Apparently so. We at Playlist Towers all remember the Golden Age of Hollywood and are far too old to be out dancing the night(s) away at the all-out electronic party known as the Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC), one of the largest events on the loved-up EDM (electronic dance music—there will be a test later) circuit. But now we don’t have to, and nor do you: behold the new, very glowing trailer for “Under The Electric Sky”, a documentrary about EDC that played Sundance earlier this year.
Basically, EDC is a gigantic dance party/fair/love-in: it attracts 115,000 people, along with a number of the biggest names in dance music—and also, the trailer suggests, concentrations of flower headbands unseen since Woodstock. The film itself looks like it will walk the line between pure concert movie and documentary about the festival, so if you can’t make it to any of the growing franchise’s locations this year (Vegas, London, New York, Puerto Rico and Orlando, apparently) then “Under The Electric Sky” might provide some solace: it will also be released in 3D, for further eyeball-blowing potential. Failing that, invite far too many people over, get some glowpaint and jump up and down in your room while hammering the lightswitch on and off. Kids these days, eh?
“Under The Electric Sky” opens this summer.
