Though human civilization keeps sailing past its supposed end-dates, the apocalypse is still a source of fascination for many of us, and for filmmakers in particular. While this year will see the serious and big-budget take on the end with the Brad Pitt-starring zombie tentpole “World War Z,” Todd Berger has delivered a smaller and more irreverent take on our doom with the black comedy “It’s A Disaster.” A trailer has now arrived online, so stock up on supplies and check it out below.
Starring David Cross, Julia Stiles, Erinn Hayes and Blaise Miller the film centers on a couples brunch gone terribly wrong. First, the hosting couple reveals they’re getting a divorce. Next, a series of dirty bombs are detonated downtown. The couples then figure out how to cope both with the escalating danger outside the house and with their own fraught relationships. Our reviewer called it “one of the most realistic depictions of what might happen during the apocalypse” and “a darkly hilarious dramedy with heart.”
Oscilloscope is releasing the film first on VOD & Digital on March 5th, followed by a limited theatrical release on April 12th. Check out the trailer for “It’s A Disaster” below.
