When it comes the assassination of JFK, it’s still one of the most sensitive wounds in America’s history, with a recent study suggesting that only 24% of Americans buy the official story that Lee Harvey Oswald was the lone gunman. Another case will be made for that theory with the upcoming “Parkland,” a star-studded take on the events of November 22, 1963, and director Peter Landesman is making clear his intentions. “This is a movie about the ground truth from the ground level,” he told USA Today.

To help him accomplish that goal, the helmer has rounded up a pretty solid cast, with Paul Giamatti, Zac Efron, Tom Welling, James Badge Dale, Jacki Weaver, Jackie Earle Haley, Billy Bob Thornton, Marcia Gay Harden and Bitsie Tulloch all on board the movie that’s based on the book “Reclaiming History: The Assassination of President John F. Kennedy” by Vincent Bugliosi. As you might expect from a movie with this kind of subject matter, controversy won’t be too far behind. In fact, Hollywood Elsewhere has noted that on September 20th, the same day movie comes out, a book will be available entitled, “Reclaiming Parkland: Tom Hanks, Vincent Bugliosi, and the JFK Assassination in the New Hollywood” which takes Bugliosi’s book and the “failed attempt” at the movie adaptation to task.

Plenty to chew on as the film gears up to premiere at TIFF in just a few weeks. Until then, check out the trailer below along with new pics and the poster for the film.
