Watch: Trailer For John Boyega's Sundance Award Winner 'Imperial Dreams'

Imperial Dreams, John BoyegaFilmmakers go to the Sundance Film Festival hoping that the little movie they worked hard on, and poured their blood, sweat, and tears into, will get some love and find an audience. Sometimes, even movies that do well in Park City don’t break out. Two years ago, director Malik Vitthal premiered "Imperial Dreams," and won an Audience Award prize for his drama. Since 2014, the picture has gone unreleased, but little did he know the film’s star would wind up in one of the biggest franchises on the planet. And no surprise, the folks behind the movie are giving it another push, hoping it can find a home.

"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" star John Boyega leads the drama that follows a 21-year-old who puts his gangster life behind him, but finds himself tested when he’s back on the streets of Watts in Los Angeles. It’s a movie we called "a heartwarming story of a father and son bonding," and hopefully it’ll find a home and show people Boyega can do more than run from aliens and wield lightsabers.
