Watch: Trailer For Martin Scorsese's NYRB Documentary 'The 50-Year Argument'

The 50 Year ArgumentYou expect certain things from a Martin Scorsese movie. Bravura filmmaking. Normally some ultraviolence. Probably a Rolling Stones song of some kind. What you don’t always expect is a documentary about literary journal The New York Review of Books.

And yet that’s what the director’s latest is. Co-directed with editor David Tedeschi, "The 50 Year Argument" sees the pair cast their eyes over half-a-century of the magazine. Featuring contributions from Joan Didion and Michael Chabon, among others, the film screened at Telluride over the past weekend (where our review said "If you love books, the people who write them, and/or the people who write about the people who write them, there’s little not to like"), and is heading to HBO at the end of the month.

And now a trailer’s here. It’s only a brief glimpse, but it’s certainly enough to make us tune in, even if it’s a more sedate affair than "The Wolf Of Wall Street." Watch the clip below, and you can see the whole thing in full when it airs on HBO on September 29th.
