Watch: Trailer For 'The Hobbit' Trilogy Extended Edition Theatrical Release

The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five ArmiesRemember when everyone was pretty blasé about Peter Jackson‘s "The Hobbit" trilogy? Well, it would seem that slapping an R-rating on it has gotten everyone’s attention. Revealed earlier this month, and confirmed in a recent press release by Warner Bros., the upcoming extended edition of "The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies" will not be suitable for children. The rating seems to have given rise to fresh curiosity in the film, and now you can see what Jackson’s presumably more violent take on his expanded adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien‘s story looks like on the big screen.

That’s right, the extended edition trilogy is coming to theaters in October for a one-time event screening, spread across three nights. And as this new trailer repeats over-and-over, you’ll get to see ‘Battle Of The Five Armies’ for the first time as Jackson truly intended it, or something. The promo does appear to show some footage from the twenty minutes of new and extended scenes that will be added into ‘Armies,’ bringing the running time somewhere in the neighborhood of 160 minutes. You might want to hold on that jumbo soda for this one.

Check out the promo below. The Fathom Events screening of the trilogy kicks off on October 5th. "The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies" extended edition arrives on November 17th.
