Watch: Trailer For The Michael Bay-Produced Pirate TV Show 'Black Sails'

nullWith “Pain & Gain” dropping next week, and work starting on “Transformers 4” very soon, you might think that Micheal Bay‘s plate is plenty full. You would be wrong. The director has also found some time to put on his executive producing hat (reminder: his Platinum Dunes shingle is also behind the upcoming “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles“) and head to the small screen for “Black Sails.” Yes, it’s a TV show about pirates, and it pretty much looks like what you might expect a Michael Bay-produced TV show about pirates to look like.

Featuring buff dudes, hot women (OMG TWO OF THEM KISS), heavy swordplay and heaving bodices, this looks nearly like a Harlequin Romance book cover — but with more explosions. The eight-episode first season will be set two decades before the events of the classic novel “Treasure Island,” following Captain Flint and his men who fight for survival on the dangerous New Providence Island. So maybe this will be “Pirates Of The Caribbean” but for adults? As anyone who watches Starz‘s “Magic City” knows, the cable network sure does love their nudity, but this looks just as cartoony as the Johnny Depp movies.

Neil Marshall directed the pilot, and the series will set sail (ha) in 2014. Watch below. [Vulture]
