I would’ve thought a movie featuring a pretty impressive ensemble of actors including Kyle Gallner, Olivia Thirlby, Nick Offerman, Molly C. Quinn, Brendan Sexton III, Josh Brener, Keegan-Michael Key, Paget Brewster and Frances Conroy might’ve had a little more buzz, and while “Welcome To Happiness” did do an extensive festival circuit run, there hasn’t been much talk about the indie dramedy. But that cast is hard to ignore, and the new trailer provides a look at what this one is all about.

The film from writer/director Oliver Thompson centers on a children’s author, who discovers a portal with some unique properties, but one he is unable to go through himself, leaving him pondering his own state of affairs. Here’s the official synopsis:
In WELCOME TO HAPPINESS, Woody (Gallner), a children’s author, rents a strange apartment from his landlord, Moses (Offerman). There’s a magical door in Woody’s closet that allows those who go through it to erase mistakes from their past. While he was once happy to facilitate the passage of the random strangers summoned to his apartment, Woody soon begins to question why he himself is not allowed to go through.
“Welcome To Happiness” opens in limited release and hits VOD on May 20th.
