The pressure on the shoulders of director Colin Trevorrow must be massive. Making the leap from the indie "Safety Not Guaranteed" to "Jurassic World," the future of the franchise rests with him. Does he have the experience to pull this off? Will this be a return to the kind of magic audiences experienced in the Steven Spielberg-directed "Jurassic Park" over twenty years ago? Well, we’re about to find out as the first trailer has just landed.
To Trevorrow’s benefit, he’s got great talent on all sides. Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Judy Greer, Jake Johnson, Omar Sy, Irrfan Khan and more make up the cast, and the script carries the fingerprints of screenwriters Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver, who were behind the reboots of the excellent "Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes" and "Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes." So, it worked for primates, but can it work for dinosaurs? We’ll see. Plot details have mostly been relegated to rumor at this point — all we know is that we’re returning to Isla Nebula, and the park from the first film — so today is the first time we’ll get a taste of where the series is headed next.
"Jurassic World" opens on June 12, 2015.
