Is Scarlett Johansson just using her movie career to continue her penchant for recording throw away covers of classic songs? For the soundtrack to the self-help film, “He’s Just Not That Into You” (due Feb 3 on NewLine Records), Scarjo has recorded a cover of Jeff Buckley’s “Last Goodbye.” The indie-everything loving Stereogum has the track, but it’s already leaked and we got our paws on it. The rest of the soundtrack is decent on its own (My Morning Jacket, Talking Heads, Wilco, Lily Allen – safe “indie rock” that’s fine… we suppose), because bands and labels aren’t at all discerning anymore about what films their music gets placed in because a dollar is a dollar and we’re all scraping for change. We’re kinda curious about this film. We honestly don’t think it will be good, but we’re still interested in seeing it.
