Director Wes Anderson finally was able to release his newest film “The French Dispatch” during the Cannes Film Festival and has gathered some lovely reactions making it a potential early Oscar contender alongside festival winners such as “Annette,” “Titane,” and others.
He’s already on the path to begin shooting his next untitled project in Spain as actors Bill Murray and Tilda Swinton are set to reunite with the filmmaker. Another familiar face has joined the slowly growing cast, as Deadline reports that Oscar-winner Adrien Brody will have a role. Brody has previously worked with Anderson on “The Darjeeling Limited,” “Fantastic Mr. Fox,” “The Grand Budapest Hotel,” and “The French Dispatch.”
I don’t think we should be too shocked if more Wes Anderson regulars are assembled for further roles. We’ll also have to wait for concrete plot details on the untitled project, written by Anderson, as the cast and crew are mostly good at keeping secrets about his films. It was originally going to shoot in Rome, Italy before pivoting the production to Spain. Many are surely holding out hope that the project ends up being a western or something different from his previous material.

“The French Dispatch” is expected to land in October from Disney and Searchlight Pictures, after being delayed due to the pandemic. The film’s story was developed by Wes Anderson, Hugo Guinness, Roman Coppola, and Jason Schwartzman with Anderson mainly tackling the final script.
The stacked cast includes Frances McDormand, Timothée Chalamet, Benicio Del Toro, Jeffrey Wright, Adrien Brody, Léa Seydoux, Tilda Swinton, Mathieu Amalric, Lyna Khoudri, Stephen Park, Elisabeth Moss, Saoirse Ronan, Owen Wilson, Kate Winslet, Christoph Waltz, Jason Schwartzman, Henry Winkler, Bill Murray and many more. Don’t be surprised if many of these faces show in Anderson’s follow-up.
