The danger of releasing a film early in the year is that by the time awards season comes around, the film could disappear from the conversation entirely and be forgotten. However, we doubt Wes Anderson’s delightful and sweet “The Grand Budapest Hotel” will be completely shut out by year’s end. To jog your memory about the tale of Gustave H. and Zero Moustafa, a Q&A from around the film’s release has surfaced online along with some odd theme park news.
Per The Telegraph, Anderson is planning to help his frequent composer – and DEVO co-founder and frontman – Mark Mothersbaugh make a theme park. In the intro to the book "Mark Mothersbaugh: Myopia," the filmmaker writes: "I hope to soon secure the means to commission the construction of an important and sizeable theme park to be conceived and designed entirely by Mark Mothersbaugh. For 40 years he has set about creating a body of work which amounts to his own Magic Kingdom, where the visitor is amused and frightened, often simultaneously."
Looking over Mothersbaugh’s breadth of work, the one thing we can be sure of the eventual park – Mothersbaugh World? – is that it’ll be idiosyncratic and completely uncharted territory.
