Forgotten “American Beauty” star Wes Bentley has joined the cast of HBO’s upcoming series “Tilda” with David Harbour and Leland Orser also on board. The trio will star alongside Diane Keaton, who’ll play Nikki Finke Tilda Watski — a powerful online Hollywood journalist with a no-holds barred style — and Ellen Page as her assistant.
Bentley plays a young I.T. guy who Tilda sleeps with; Harbour an old-school entertainment columnist who’s bitter towards her; and Orser a studio head exposed by her. Series creator Bill Condon will direct the pilot from a script by Cynthia Mort (who helped develop the series as well) with shooting set to begin this month in Los Angeles.
Where did Bentley go after “American Beauty”? He torpedoed his career with alcohol and heroin addiction and told the New York Times all about it in a candid feature published earlier this year. If you’re a fan of his or just these fascinating, “lost-weekend” type stories, we suggest you give the piece a read.
