Wesley Snipes is back! Sort of! The actor, who has spent the past handful of years mired in legal woes, while also starring in a string of forgettable, low budget movies, returns to the multiplex this month in "The Expendables 3" and could we be looking at a Snipes-aissance? Maybe (but probably not). But don’t rain on Snipes’ parade, because he’s really hoping to make "Blade 4."
"I’d be open to it. I think we’ve got some stones left unturned and there’s some latitude left for us to build on and I’d love to get back in the suit again and do some things I’ve learned how to do now that I didn’t know how to do then," he told MTV at Comic-Con. "I think we’re better at making that kind of a film now. Some of the things we did in the early parts of the franchise were experimental and now they’ve become customary in a lot of the ‘Avengers’ films and other comic book adaptations."
We’ll leave the debate as to the influence (or not) of the "Blade" movies on the current generation of comic book adaptations to the comments section, but leave it Snipes to dream up a scenario for "Blade 4" (okay, he’s joking, but still). "Blade chasing the Twilight kids around? Hey man, there’s always a possibility, and I’m open to it," he told EW. "There have been rumors around that we may explore the opportunity, so give me one more shot! I’ve gotten a little bit better, and I think we can add a little flavor to it."
Whatever rumors Snipes is hearing, they are probably unlikely. Marvel got the rights back to the character a little while ago, and if they do revisit Blade, it’s likely to be a total reboot. But hey, don’t crush Snipes dream, and actually, we’d pay to see Blade hunt down the kids from "Twilight" in a movie too. And if by some miracle "Blade 4" does happen, let’s hope he has a much better attitude on set than he did during the making of "Blade: Trinity." [via Movieweb]
