This morning Cinema Blend had one of their trusty gumshoes feed them a sensational (and most likely false) story. That Disney is attempting to lock up Tim Burton to direct the fourth installment of their “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise.
Johnny Depp recently signed on to do a fourth ‘Pirates’ movie, the only one from the original cast to do so, for a cool $56 million American dollars. The fact that they are going to do a Jack Sparrow movie is fairly retarded, but not that surprising when one thinks about that these things essentially double as money machines for Disney.
Even though they are going to fighting an uphill battle with next to no actors from the original films, they might be on the way to getting that little problem fixed by giving Sparrow a brother, to be played by Sacha Baron Cohen or Russell Brand according to the report, which we have to admit would be pretty great.
But remember to take this all with a grain of salt, as they are mostly just wild rumors. On the other hand, picture Burton rendition of Pirates: that would be some pretty creepy shit, no? This is most likely all crazy talk, but Burton directing Brand and Depp as brothers in a Burton-esque universe could be the only way this movie wouldn’t totally suck gnads.
