With an English-language remake of “Force Majeure,” an untitled film with Gus Van Sant, and a litany of producing projects, actor Will Ferrell is a very busy man. But even with the massive amount of film and TV projects on his plate, he’s prepping one more for Netflix and he’s teaming up with his “Wedding Crashers” director for the comedy.

According to Variety, filmmaker David Dobkin has signed on to direct Ferrell in the upcoming Netflix film, “Eurovision.” The comedy, as you may have guessed by the title, centers around the famous Eurovision Song Contest. The TV song competition ran for decades, and churned out hitmakers like ABBA and Celine Dion, who won in 1974 and 1988, respectively. The actual plot of the film is unknown at the time, but it sure does seem as if Ferrell and Co. have plenty of gold to mine with the setting.

Ferrell is performing triple duty on “Eurovision,” as he will produce the film, as well as co-write with Andrew Steele. Steele and Ferrell have teamed up on numerous projects, including “Casa de Mi Padre,” “A Deadly Adoption,” “The Spoils of Babylon,” and of course, “Saturday Night Live.”
Obviously, Dobkin is probably best known for his work as the director of “The Wedding Crashers.” However, he’s also been working steadily over the last two decades, with films like “The Change-Up,” “Fred Claus,” and “The Judge,” as well as stints directing episodes of TV series like “Iron Fist” and “Into the Badlands.”
There’s no release date for “Eurovision,” as of now. As mentioned, Ferrell has a pretty stacked line-up of projects on the horizon, so we could still be a ways off until hearing more about this Netflix original film.
