Will Ferrell & Jack Black Are Going To Be 'Tag Brothers'

nullWe’ve seen them together at the Oscars, posing for Disney portraits with Annie Leibovitz and, of course, in that memorable scene from “Anchorman” — bros just seem to loving hanging out together — but rather remarkably, we’ve never had a full blown Will Ferrell and Jack Black big screen pairing. Until now.

The Wrap reports that Ferrell and Black are slated to star in “Tag Brothers,” which is not some kind of spinoff of “Step Brothers” (yo Adam McKay, we still want that sequel). The concept is pretty simple, but actually based on a true story, one that gained national attention thanks to a piece in the Wall Street Journal. The story will follow friends and former classmates who are still caught in an epic game of tag well into their 40s, traveling across the country to tag (or avoid being tagged) all while trying to manage their various personal lives. Yep, it’s dumb but also the kind of dumb that Ferrell and co. could knock out of the park.

The comic duo are not 100% just yet, as they’re waiting to see how the script from Mark Steilen (the 1999 comedy “The Settlement” featuring Ferrell pal John C. Reilly) pans out. So put it in the cooker for now, and we’ll see how it all develops.
