While “Step Brothers 2” seems less and less likely as time goes on, the good news is six years after their last full blown team-up, Will Ferrell, John C. Reilly and Adam McKay are getting ready to reunite and hopefully make us laugh. Really, really hard.
Deadline reports that the trio will get behind “Border Guards,” with McKay eyeing directing Ferrell and Reilly. And the concept is pretty terrific. The pair will play a couple of inept pals who decide to do their part by protecting America from illegal immigrants, but they wind up in Mexico with no ID, and no way home, so they have to sneak back into the United States. Even better? “In The Loop,” “The Thick Of It” and “Four Lions” writer Jesse Armstrong is going to pen the script, so this will certainly have some bite.
It seems a bit of a way off from rolling, but fingers crossed it doesn’t get stuck in development. Until we know more, here’s the excellent “Step Brothers” blooper reel.
