Before Will Ferrell will have even started playing “Sherlock Holmes” with Sacha Baron Cohen and Judd Apatow, he’ll likely be putting his efforts towards being a “Two Face.”
No, it’s not a ‘Dark Knight’ sequel, keep your pants on. Actually, it’s a new project and script written by “Hancock” scribe Vince Gilligan [ed. uhhh…]. Ferrell will star as a racist who develops a split personality after a prank goes horribly awry (and one half is a bleeding heart liberal).
It sounds typically goofy, but Variety says the film is a “drama-comedy” and the Hollywood Reporter goes even further claiming the socially relevant topics could give it some emotional heft slightly in vein to 2006’s “Stranger Than Fiction” (all relative of course, there’s no way it can be as serious as that was).
The film is being developed at Sony and Ferrell has apparently been interested in the project for about three years. The search for a director is underway and the project could begin to start shooting as early as next year. Gilligan has written crap like “Home Fries,” and many episodes of “The X-Files,” and “The Lone Gunmen” TV series.
