Yes, this is just a rumor for now, but it’s interesting nonetheless.
The Toronto Star (via BroadwayWorld) says that Seth Rogen is being considered for the lead role of Lonny in the film adaptation of the musical “Rock Of Ages.” Set to go into production later this year, the Adam Shankman (“Bedtime Stories,” “Hairspray”) directed film will follow the tale of “a small town girl [who meets] a big city rocker-and in LA’s most famous rock club, they fell in love to the greatest songs of the ‘80s.” Taking place on the Sunset Strip of 1987, the musical features songs by the likes of Journey, Bon Jovi, Poison, Twisted Sister, Joan Jett, Foreigner and many more. Tobey Maguire has long been attached to the project, but we presume he’s moved on (at least from starring in it, his production company is still involved). Rogen’s schedule does appear to be open this fall, though he is also considering starring in the comedy “My Mother’s Curse”; he was offered a role along with Barbra Streisand. Shankman will apparently get the film in front of cameras later this year and is aiming for a summer 2011 release.
