Will Smith Eyes 'Annie' Remake For Willow Smith; Jay-Z In Talks To Do The Music

With Jaden Smith already on his way to become a box office force to be reckoned with like his dad, Will Smith is looking to his other other offspring to turn into a moneymaking machine too. Willow Smith already turned heads with her single/video “Whip My Hair” and so no surprise, the youngster is already being eyed for big screen musical project. You gotta strike while the iron is hot.

Variety reports that Will Smith is eying a remake of the musical “Annie” (famously turned into the 1982 film directed by John Huston) with Willow to take the lead. The project, still early in development, is set up at Smith’s Overbrook production shingle and while details are under wraps as to the potential setting and songs, if the proposed musical collaborator pans out, expect this one to be street level.

The Jigga Man himself Jay-Z is in talks to do the music for the film which, really, is not much of a surprise. The rapper/CEO/vodka magnate/Beyoncé‘s other half signed Willow to Roc Nation last year and of course, he sampled “It’s The Hard Knock Life” for one of his biggest hits ever (and still fantastic track) “Hard Knock Life (Ghetto Anthem).” So yeah, some interesting/inspired choices all around but it really remains to be seen if anyone will care about Willow Smith six months from now enough to see her sing and dance in a musical.
