A refresher because you’ve probably forgotten by now. Woody Allen was shooting a film in London that was referred to, up until now as his “Untitled London Project.” That film is now called, “You Will Meet A Tall Dark Stranger,” which really is one of his longest when you think about it.
The picture starred Nicole Kidman at one point, but then she had to drop out (and was replaced by a much lesser known Lucy Punch). The final cast is Josh Brolin, Naomi Watts, Antonio Banderas (more set photos here), Anthony Hopkins, Freida Pinto, Gemma Jones and Bollywood star Anupam Kher.
“You Will Meet A Tall Dark Stranger” is set for a 2010 release and Allen when he’s finished editing will be off and running on his next project which is a Paris-based romantic drama and possibly after that, a film set in Brazil. Woody basically knows financing is everywhere but the U.S. these days so he’s happy to go abroad if international production companies will keep giving him financing which it seems they are.
Allen recently told the UK Telegraph that he gives the films he is most confident about bold titles and the ones he’s feeling not so hot about, more low-key names. “If I look at the film and it’s no good I don’t like to give it an aggressive title, I give it what I call one of my hiding titles — the kind of title that is low-key and promises nothing, so people are less disappointed by it,” he said.
Uhh, so does this mean, it’ll be his best movie… ever?
