If you tell film fans that an upcoming action film has the stunt coordinator and second-unit director from “John Wick” and a special effects make-up artist from “Mad Max: Fury Road,” then you’re likely going to get people excited even without revealing the cast or plot. Luckily, in the case of the upcoming Netflix film “Kate,” there’s the first two things plus a great cast.
According to Variety, Woody Harrelson and Mary Elizabeth Winstead are both starring in the upcoming action film “Kate,” from director Cedric Nicolas-Troyan. The Netflix film tells the story of a female assassin that is poisoned, with only 24 hours to live. What’s a female assassin with 24 hours to live left to do? Obviously, she’s going to go on a rampage to kill those that have given her a death sentence.
Winstead is probably best known for her roles in films like “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World” and “10 Cloverfield Lane.” However, next year is poised to be a breakout year for the actress, as she’s one of the leads in the highly-anticipated superhero film “Birds of Prey.” What’s there to say about Harrelson? He’s a great actor that has been nominated for three Oscars and a slew of Emmys. He’s recently been seen in the “Star Wars” spin-off film ‘Solo.’
Nicolas-Troyan is probably fairly unknown to many film fans, as his only feature directorial effort is the 2016 flop, “The Huntsman: WInter’s War.” However, while the film didn’t necessarily excite critics or the box office, it does show that he has an eye for action. And speaking of an eye for action, the aforementioned stunt coordinator and second-unit director Jonathan Eusebio and special effects artist Damian Martin are both onboard as well.
There’s no release date set for “Kate,” as is the case with most Netflix films.
