It appears that Marvel Studios has decided to cast yet another young, relative unknown actress for a new role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Only a couple of weeks after naming Iman Vellani as the new lead in “Ms. Marvel,” the superhero factory has found Xochitl Gomez for a role in the highly-anticipated “Doctor Strange” sequel.

According to Deadline, Xochitl Gomez has landed a role in “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,” which is set to begin production shortly. Her role is unknown at the time (of course) and Marvel Studios has yet to confirm the casting (duh). But it would appear that the young actress is the latest addition to the ever-growing MCU.
Gomez is probably best known for her role in the recently released “Babysitter’s Club” reboot series on Netflix. Prior to that, she also appeared the films “Roped” and “Shadow Wolves.” Obviously, starring in ‘Doctor Strange 2’ is her highest-profile project to date. However, the big question is who Gomez will play in the film?

You see, ‘Multiverse of Madness’ is expected to feature quite a bit of alternate reality hijinks, tying into the upcoming “WandaVision” and probably ‘Spider-Man 3.’ There are rumors and speculation that the film will also be where we might see Marvel character, America Chavez, show up, which would make sense given her power to travel between dimensions. And though we have no insider knowledge, Gomez could fit the bill as a younger version of Chavez.

Of course, we likely won’t know more about her role until we get closer to the release of the film. At this point (and again, we have to warn that release dates are completely subject to change right now), “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” is supposed to arrive in theaters on March 25, 2022.
