As we reported last week, a deleted tweet by actor Luke Treadaway revealed that Nick Frost was on board the Joe Cornish feature, and with principal photography on the film now underway, ScreenDaily has confirmed that both Frost and Treadaway are indeed part of the cast. Joining them are Jodie Whittaker, John Boyega, Alex Esmail, Franz Drameh, Leeon Jones and Simon Howard.
The film, by Edgar Wright’s long-time friend and writing partner, is an urban sci-fi actioner “about a teen gang facing alien monsters.” The full synopsis draws comparisons to such films as “La Haine,” “Assault On Precinct 13” and “Aliens” which sounds kinda badass. As expected, the film definitely carries a “Shaun Of The Dead” or “Hot Fuzz” vibe as the teens ” grab weapons, mount bikes and mopeds, and set out to defend their turf.”
With Nick Frost’s other alien centered film, “Paul,” now pushed to 2011 it’s quite possible that “Attack The Block” will arrive first. With Comic Con looming this summer perhaps we’ll see a sneak peek at what Cornish has up his sleeve? Let’s hope so.
