While the project is technically shelved, given that Quentin Tarantino has said he’s already working on a second draft of “The Hateful Eight,” with a third to follow, something tells us this isn’t the last we’ve heard about the western. And as far as unmade projects go, few have received the starry kind of attention this film has, with a live read of the script taking place last month at LACMA, directed by Tarantino himself with a team of famous faces filling in the roles including Samuel L. Jackson, Kurt Russell, Tim Roth, Amber Tamblyn, Walton Goggins, Michael Madsen, Bruce Dern, James Parks, Denis Menochet, Dana Gourrier, Zoe Bell and James Remar. You can read our full recap right here, but if you weren’t lucky enough to be there, you can still own a piece of the evening.
The official poster for the LACMA live read is now available to buy and hang on your wall, and it’s a pretty nifty piece of artwork. Designed by Matt Owen, it’s got an illustration of the sweeping views Tarantino has indicated in his script that he wants to shoot in 70mm, and right on top is an appropriately bloody title treatment. Fun stuff. The one sheet will set you back $45, but all proceeds are going to the non-profit Film Independent, the folks behind the L.A. Film Festival and Indie Spirit Awards.
