We’ll let the title — which evokes a corny 1990s pop culture phenomenon — slide for now and focus on the trailer for the most interesting project Al Pacino has been associated with in years.
In “You Don’t Know Jack,” Pacino plays famed right-to-die activist and doctor Jack Kevorkian in a biopic about his life and um, work. The solid cast includes Susan Sarandon, John Goodman, James Urbaniak and Danny Huston wearing a hairpiece that has to be seen to be believed.
Here’s the official synopsis:
In 1990, Dr. Jack Kevorkian (aka Dr. Death) astonished the world as he took the end of life debate head on with his “Mercy Machine” and performed his first assisted suicide. Starring Oscar® winner Al Pacino (Emmy® winner for HBO’s “Angels in America”) in a film by Oscar® winner Barry Levinson (“Rain Man”), HBO Films’ You Don’t Know Jack follows Kevorkian as he builds his infamous Mercitron and starts a media frenzy with his epic legal battles defending a patient’s right to die. The film’s additional cast includes: Oscar® winner Susan Sarandon (Emmy® nominated for HBO’s “Bernard and Doris”), John Goodman (Emmy® winner for “Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip”), Danny Huston (HBO’s “John Adams”), Brenda Vaccaro (Emmy® winner for “The Shape of Things”) is scheduled to debut on HBO in spring 2010.
The film, directed by Barry Levinson, will premiere on HBO on April 24th.
